Textile Application

Service Machine Shop has proudly served the textile industry for 55 years. With our new facility located at the hub of the textile industry in Greenville, SC, we offer new rolls for textile plants and OEM’s as well as roll rework. Dean Kirkpatrick, it’s owner, had 8 years experience with textile machine fabrication and design before taking over the helm of Service Machine Shop in 1982.

We fabricate all types of textile rolls to customers specifications. Typical roll materials would be stainless steel textile grade, stainless steel pipe, drawn over mandrel and electric round welded tubing, A53-A500 pipe and aluminum pipe/tubing. We perform such operations as turned o.d.’ s, knurled o.d.’s, polishing, static and dynamic balancing. We also can machine special finishes on journal surfaces to accommodate graphite bearings. We can offer turn key operations on rubber, nytrile, urethane, teflon and epoxy coatings. Stress-relieving of rolls after welding is another option we offer.

Typical uses of our rolls would be finishing, dyeing, batching, inspection, nip/pad rolls, compensators, and water cooled rolls. We offer pickup and delivery services to an area around Greenville, SC to both textile plants and O.E.M’s. We pride ourselves in quick turn-around time on roll rework in order to keep plant down-times to a minimum. We strive to keep our quality at the highest level possible while at the same time maintaining low costs in an ever competitive textile market. So, whether you’re designing new equipment or maintaining upgrades on existing equipment, Service Machine Shop is the company for you.
